Aprilia Shiver 750

#1 Unread post by darsek »

Anyone hear about when this bike is coming to the US? Hopefully '08 models. They are also bringing out the Mana 850. They are both beautiful bikes...the Shiver is tempting. Does anyone have opinions of Aprilia bikes in general?

My instructor was set that they're the best bike.... second best. He prefers Moto Guzzi. But Apillias are pretty sweet bikes too. High quality, well made, beautiful but expensive.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

The dealer I spoke to in TX said none were on the shipment for 07, but maybe 08 at the earliest.

If that is so, then the timing of delivery to the US would be perfect to coincide with our return home.

The Shiver 750 sure is an interesting machine for Aprilia's 'entry level'. Check out the Video (Italian).
It's highly sophisticated too with drive-by-wire, fine atomising injectors, mixed gear/chain camshaft drive system. "The chain is shorter, for less overall stress and a longer working life; this makes the engine shorter. All engine data parameters pass through a CAN (Controlled Area Network) line to the instrument panel, which also acts as a diagnostic terminal. The CAN line uses just two wires to transmit all data. This simplifies the electrical system enormously as well as reducing the total weight of the bike... The frame exploits all the knowledge Aprilia has gained in racing and also draws on new studies on mixed structures with the futuristic RXV and SXV, already winners of a number of titles during their debut on the racetrack"
Expected to be released in June (Europe) with a price close to Aprilia's SXV 450/550 V-twin SuperMoto. A SuperMoto model is said to be coming also, as well as a version of the Shiver with a fairing...
