I agree. At the very least you could spell "writing" correctly. You keep spelling it as "righting". Is that just to challenge those who are correcting you? The word you are using would be used in the concept of righting a wrong. "Creative righting" would mean you were figuring out creative ways to fix things that were wrong with the world or something like that. There is actually a point to proper grammar and spelling. It makes you more easily understood and give others a chance to see into your mind. If you spell and write poorly, you can just confuse people.flynrider wrote:I just found it a bit ironic that you are such a whiz at creative writing, but cannot spell it. That's all. It's not something you see everyday.
But I can see how you might be taught creative writing without emphasis on spelling or grammar, it just seems odd. If you are just looking to get a poem out on paper, or a story told in a unique way, you might overlook those flaws to get the raw idea. Still, even you admit "that is what editors are for", and we do not have an editor here, so it can be hard to read through all the errors, so bear with our picky nature. I took creative writing in school, and they did count spelling and grammar, and I'm sure many here have had the same experience.

I am quoting you because you where the last to reply. But I will also try to reply to others as well. I went to a private middle school and they didn't realize that I was not getting any English. At times I can have good grammar and spelling when I try. I also have ADD so I rush threw allot of stuff I do. Like right now you can see that my grammar and spelling is not that bad. But yes its true in Creative writing grammar is pretty important. But they understand my case and are helping me and working with me on getting it better. I used to be ALLOT worse. I know how to spell creative writing I just don't always take the time to see my errors. So with that if any one would like to challenge my writing skills be my guest. I love to read other poets work and would be more than happy to show you some of mine. Well that is all. I know you are asking you're self how the hell do they over look you're schedule and not give you English.. I have asked my self that for a long time so join the club.scan wrote:I agree. Yes I happen to agree. Even though I did get English in public the quality of the teaching was horrible and the whole point in going to private in the first place. O well I am doing much better now that I am in high school.Damian wrote:I'm curious where you live, too. Dude, I'm not trying to insult you (it's not your fault), but if you're from the US, you're like a walking billboard for how broken our public school system is.gfisha32188 wrote:I went threw 6th-8th grade never having english class. I basicly tought my self. Creative righting does not require good spelling or grammer. That is what a editor is for. Also I would like to state that the creative righting class I am in now you have to get picked for and I am looked upon as one of the best free verse and epic poet righters in the class. In poetry good grammer is not required. But it certinly does help. My teacher and my friends help me with editing my peaces before they are sent off to news papers/contests/ put into my anthology. Just something to stick in you're pipe.blues2cruise wrote:I believe both are correct.Skier wrote:Wouldn't that be "grammatical errors?"blues2cruise wrote:That should be creative writing.....somehow we don't think creative writing should include spelling and grammar errors. That is not creative.......just wrong.gfisha32188 wrote:I dont follow : \ I have creative righting every day at like 1 pm. I do like 10 pages of righting a night honest I dont follow lol.flynrider wrote:And you're still using the "creative righting" excuse. How could we forget?gfisha32188 wrote: I am getting smarter with my decisions and what not.
And the word "like" is like not needed. It's like extra like you know.

While I personally don't have a problem with your poor spelling, others who could be described as having ana personalities will have a tendency to look down upon you for using poor grammar and/or spelling. They incorrectly equate education to intelligence.
So on that note, have you ever heard of spell check? It only takes a second.

Besides, he doesn't spell words wrong that often, actually. He used the wrong form of a word. Like right instead of write, or threw instead of through. Those won't be caught by a spell check.gfisha32188 wrote:Yes I do know of spell check it's just I don't always have the time/energy to reply in such a manner see fit to others. : \AZRider wrote:While I personally don't have a problem with your poor spelling, others who could be described as having ana personalities will have a tendency to look down upon you for using poor grammar and/or spelling. I know this is still off topic, but I just want to reinforce why what scan said is important. In order to be understood by anyone besides yourself, you have to use language that other people can understand.
When you use the word "right" for example, people might see "the opposite direction of left". I don't want to berate you, but at the same time IF you want to communicate basic un-creative thoughts, it's good to use a language that other people are familiar with.
If you were a pro footballer, would you slap anyone's "O Ring" who you wanted to congratulate? "Good job mom! *SLAP!*" Different styles for different mediums and purposes, ok? Put "creative lefting" in your blog.

.... ANY native speaker can understand what he said. Everything is in context and in all honesty, what he writes is 100% readable by a native speaker like most people who posted here, so please stop complaining and answer his question. BTW, I'm NOT talking to you.The549 wrote:I know this is still off topic, but I just want to reinforce why what scan said is important.
