The measurement they ask for is tape around one leg to see how big it is. They want to get you a size that will fit over your legs. The waists are usually adjustable with the belt up top.
As said, leather does stretch, I don't know why people think it doesn't. Leather is a pliable material. Otherwise, cows would not be able to grow
Its the same with leather holsters, eventually you have to replace them as they lose their firearm retention quality.
As for thickness, every ounce is equal to 1/64’ in thickness. So, unless the manf states the weight/thickness, go elsewhere.
