They look too Gay to me, (Not that there's anything wrong with that) so buy some Leather Pants & play it safe.

Unless...........................nevermind.
Leather pants are even worse in this regard.
Hmmmn....Now you have me wondering if I'm Gay when the riding weather gets real cold....

I think the best way to buy chaps is in person, not mail order. Go to a motorcycle rally and there will be hundreds of chaps to try on, over your jeans, with your riding boots on, etc. Plus you can actually feel the thickness and quality of leather.

I have to disagree with the poster who said leather will not stretch. It will change shape to fit your legs. You should buy new chaps that fit snugly, you don't want any flapping, it will irritate your skin.

Chaps in the summer are fine, and the reason they are better than leather pants. You can keep your chaps in your saddle bag to put over your jeans when the sun goes down and it gets cold.

It is not the best protection, but I have to admit I have worn shorts with chaps over them. If am spending the entire day in Hulett, Wyoming in August, I am not going to walk around with long pants on!

I am a woman, by the way, with 13 years riding experience.

Go ahead and laugh at me while you're at it.
The measurement they ask for is tape around one leg to see how big it is. They want to get you a size that will fit over your legs. The waists are usually adjustable with the belt up top.

As said, leather does stretch, I don't know why people think it doesn't. Leather is a pliable material. Otherwise, cows would not be able to grow

Its the same with leather holsters, eventually you have to replace them as they lose their firearm retention quality.

As for thickness, every ounce is equal to 1/64’ in thickness. So, unless the manf states the weight/thickness, go elsewhere.

You too, ey? I got suckered in, and then they reneged on their return policy. Wankers.
I still have a pair of reasonable leather gloves, men's small - $20 plus shipping...
