If ever in Kingsley, Michigan (population about 12.5 and a cat) stop at the Kingsley Inn and get their 1/2lb bacon cheeseburger, "deluxe, with everything." Good god it's good.

If ever in Lafayette, Indiana (and I don't recommend it, but sometimes it can't be helped) stop at the Lafayette Brewing Company and get their burger. Good GOD it's good. Wash it down with their beer -- anything they make is like ambrosia.

As for chains, I love Rally's/Checkers. Gonzo burgers for cheap.

Trotters in Merida makes the best burgers in the Mexican state of Yucatan.

A little no name place (there's just a sign that says CAFE) in Texas that makes the best milkshakes I've ever tried and my friend had a burger there that he said was excellent. The problem? I have no clue where it is. I think it was on Exit 49 but I don't know what highway. All I know is that it was on the way from Lauredo to to Ft Stockton.

This might be cheating, but around here we have this place called the monastery. They have open grills where you can make your own burger. That place has the best burgers. :)

Corner Pub in Reedsburg, Wisc. Wash it down with the Weiss Bier the owner, Pete, brews up in the basement.

Also a great bluegill fish fry on (what else) Friday nights.

MMMMM, Phatburger in Mill Valley, just north of San Francisco.

They have excellent burgers, fries and shakes. There isn't much you can do though after eating one, except slip into a greasy, burger induced coma.

Zips if you're in Cincy. And I also ate at a place called Red Robin for the first time Friday that specializes in burgers. Theirs were quite tasty too.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?
