First bike after 30 years

#1 Unread post by DEKKER »

Ive been read this board for several months , learned tons. Thanks. I returned to riding this year after taking the MFC. I was extremely nervous about my first ride. actually I had never rode on a street ..EVER. I have know riden about 45 hours and realised a few things. 1- the brain rides the bike. 2- my focus and pre ride attitude makes the ride enjoyable. 3- stupidity equals pain. I am 47 yrs young and just bought a 2001 Honda Shadow 750. guess this is my first bike. Knowing your limits makes it easier to expand them. I am comfortable and ejoying every minute on the road. See you soon

Dekker,
My story is similar to yours. I haven't owned a bike for over 25 years and have never owned a street bike. I recently got the bug to start looking for a new bike. It's a tough decision and was leaning toward the Suzuki S50 with the Honda Shadow Spirit 750 a close second. After reading some reviews today, I starting to think that the Honda might the better choice. Some of the complaints about the Suzuki was the seat is uncomfortable on long rides and the gas tank is too small. Anyway, for now I'm having a good time looking and comparing and excited to riding again soon.
