Carb Cleaner

Instead of taking the air box out to get to the carb, is it a bad idea just to take out the air filter and shoot it towards the carb through the box while reving it a bit to suck up the cleaner?

Doing that won't get any of the cleaner where it needs to be. It'll go straight into the engine, but won't hit any of the jets meaning it won't clean anything worth cleaning.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Ok thanks. I did also put some carb cleaner in that just goes right into the tank but i'd assume that wont do to much. i might have to invest some time in taking the airbox right out.
