Sometimes life sucks, Alex. I had that kind of emotional blackmail from my mother when I was in my teens. I didn't buy my first bike till I had left home.
It's very hard to deal with. But here is a bit of old Buddhist wisdom. "To get somebody to believe something, repeat it regularly with emotional content." Politicians do it all the time. What would be the positive emotional hook for her?
But don't get suckered into a debate about it. That's a loser.
Good luck
Richard

Sounds about right, me I'm probably moving out soon because it'll always be something if it's not the bike that makes us clash. Well I'm off for a bagel and a cup of coco before my job interview (file clerk) gotta make some money before I can move out.
I'm starting a petition to cull narrowminded dull people - be afraid Peter, be very afraid....

eh, seems that even though I'm the most qualified they want to give the filing job to one of the doctor's kids, even though she doesn't want to be there. So I'm broadening my search, I'll drop off some more resumes tomorrow.

I've got a group interview at Anchor Blue Monday and school starts Wednesday. So I'll finally be busy for once.
Seems that since I'm 18 I can possibly get insurance through the Kaiser kids program for like 18$ a month. But I have to see if I am eligible for medical first. Employment and insurance first, then bikes.
It's kinda funny. I was riding the bus home from San Francisco and it turns out that the person next to me was not only a biker, her husband was the manager for one of the local shops. So I'll have to swing by there when I go buy a jacket and say "Hi!"
I'm off to cruise craig's list

Well I switched back to Apollofrost because I've come to the realization that I'm not really Kitty anymore. The people that gave me the nickname have all moved on with their lives and so have I. There's a part of me that will always be Kitty, but it's time for a change.
Speaking of change, I got a job. It's $9 an hour as a hotel clerk working nights and while it's not a lot of hours it's much better than nothing. I'm not sure if my sister will let me get a bike now but if she doesn't I'm searching for a new place to stay anyways. I'm flat tired of being the scapegoat for all the things that go wrong in her life.
I'm looking into some Ninja 250s and 500s on craigslist but both of the bikes I've found have damage to their fairings. The 250 has a crack in the fairing and the 500 has a scratch. Still, the price is right and I think I can make them go a little lower. Either way I'll have the bikes checked out by a local dealer to make sure everything is ship shape.
Alex, logging off.

grr... computer deleted my post. So I'll give you the cliff notes, I don't wanna rewrite it all again.
So anyways I got a bike, a used 2007 KLR650 and ended up riding it to my uncle's place a few miles away. I was scared at first and uneasy about spending the cash but once I got on the bike all of those doubts just faded away and I couldn't help but smile. It wasn't quite an ear to ear grin, but that's just because my cheek pads hadn't quite been broken in yet.
I was kinda dissapointed when I got back to my uncle's place, I really wanted to keep going but I figured it would be a good idea to pick up a jacket first and get the bike insured. But I did get to go dirtbike riding and that was hella fun. I rode around the track and fell over in the sand a few times but all I got was a bruise on my shin, the bike he lent me was fine.
So all and all I had a lot of fun and when I came home I had a quote stuck in my head and I wish I knew who said it first.
"Only a motorcyclist knows why a dog sticks his head out the window."
Me, I think it's because he knows a good thing when he sees one.

Bought a jacket today, not anything like what I had been expecting to purchase. It was a toss up between a textile jacket from Shift and a leather jacket from Tour Master and I couldn't decide. Both were about the same price but one was more visible and one was more sturdy. I couldn't decide.
Then on a whim I went over to the Joe Rocket jackets and spotted one in my size. I went to try it on then looked at the price tag, it was one of the replica racer jackets in black with white lettering, and quickly began to chant in my head "Please don't fit, please don't fit, please don't fit." and wouldn't you know it, it fit perfectly. Better than anything else I've tried on to date. So I bought it and a new oil filter for the KLR and went home to pack.
I'm mostly moved into my new apartment now and tonight's my first night here. Anyways I've gotta get some sleep so nighty night,
