Just bought my first bike!

#1 Unread post by jdrestore »

Just signed the papers tonight on my first bike. 2002 Honda Shadow 750 with 4400 miles on it. It has a few scratches, looks like it fell over on one side. I pick it up on Friday! Consequently, I also start my motorcycle safety class Friday! I am so totally excited!!!!

Congratz! Very nice bike, I know if I had it I would practice alot of slow turns, maybe some figure 8's in the parking lot until you get use to the weight. I hope you enjoy it!

Couple quick tips:

Keep your chin up - I had soooo much trouble with this
Smile - you're having a blast!
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Have a great time in class - you'll learn a lot and feel pretty confident when practicing on your very cool new bike. Congratulations!!

Most of the mid-90s shadow 600's around here were priced at about 3500.

So 3500 for a newer 750 is a pretty good deal.

And a bike that's been dropped but not crashed is a good first bike. Take all the pressure off you and most of the anger out of when you drop it for the first time.
