Ever hit an animal?
Ever hit an animal?
I was just wondering if any one has ever hit an animal? My biggest worry is going through a turn hitting a squirell and the front tire sliding out. Anyone ever experienced anything like this?
you've got bigger worries than a squirrel. Like gravel. Don't make any sudden direction changes and almost all animals will get out of the way. If they don't, it's a self-correcting problem.
I've hit a big groundhog before. It was laying in the road on the yellow line, and took off for the shoulder at the last minute. The bike in front of me swerved right and went around between the groundhog and the shoulder, so he reversed direction and started running the other way, right under my bike because I thought I was clear to go around to the left. I stood up on the pegs and stood the bike perfectly vertical. bump bump. No big deal. 'Course, I wasn't turning and I was on a big ole Suzuki GS1100E.

I must've hit about a million bugs over the years, but have been lucky enough to avoid anything larger... (unless you count that one cager..
)

Don't give up.
Not now, not soon, not after being continually knocked down.
If you never give up, you can never truly fail.

Put the bike away for a while. I think all the vibration has shaken your brain a little to much.nyrblue35 wrote:one time i hit an alien. i believe i was teleported up into the mothership. i forget what happened the whole month after that. ive regained my senses now, but have lost my sanity. i believe what saved me is my cruiser japanese bike. they assumed i didnt like americans as well and threw me off their ship. guess they arent as smart as they seem to be. stupid aliens.

I've hit a small bird at over 180km/hr that exploded on impact with my front brake lever. Luckily I was wearing my rainsuit and I used the carwash to clear the hamburger off the sleeve later.]
I've also almost hit a bear two years ago in Idaho in the middle of the day on the rolling praries. There was just one clump a bushes and out he shot. I can still see the look on his face, I was THAT close....
Been close on a few deer over the years, and now I will not ride in the mountains as soon as the sun starts to go down. This is 4 pm in some places......
