can i just unhook the positive/ground wires off the battery? or do u mean literally take it out?mgdavis wrote:Maybe take out the battery? 21 days isn't all that long. Get some Stabil in the fuel system if you really want to feel good about it.
whats stabil?

okay. coolmgdavis wrote:Stabil is a fuel stabilizer, keeps things from varnishing up in your fuel system. I don't think three weeks is long enough for that to become an issue.
Unhooking the battery leads should work fine.

btw, when they say don't leave gas in the bike if you're putting the bike away for a long time, are they saying that cause you're not supposed to leave gas in the gas tank, or gas in the system? (fuel injectors...etc)
...im asking cause i have a spare gas tank (off the bike) and i couldn't get all the gas out, so its been sitting in my room for like a month. just worried that its gonna go bad i guess? (rust)

I'd make an effort to get all the fuel out of your spare tank, for safety if nothing else. If you have access to a compressor maybe you could blow the old fuel out, or maybe soak it up with rags. Having gasoline in my bedroom would give me the heebie-jeebies.

well, its just a little bit of gas. but i understand where you're coming from.
i was thinking about riding the bike until its low on gas then leave it running until it runs out of gas...i was thinkin about doing this before i leave. but i guess its kinda pointless?

Yep, pointless. Gas should actually be fine for a couple months. Three weeks is nothing. Like I said, use Stabil if you want to feel good about it. I think your bike is FI, but if it has a carb just turn the fuel off, then run the engine till it stalls out to clear the float bowls.Dirtytoes wrote:
