idle: yes go: no

#1 Unread post by Johnny Gaijin »

i've got a 1975 honda cl360. in neutral it idles well and i can rev the engine to redline no problem. when i get on put it in gear and ride for a few feet the bike suddenly runs like crap, has no power, won't idle, and eventually dies. the carbs are clean and re-kitted. the points and timing are good. great compression. any ideas? i'm stuck and sick of riding the bus.

I'd go over the wiring with a fine tooth comb. Sounds like something is shorting out the ignition after you get underway.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Did this problem just start happening or was something done to the bike and then this started?

When you say you can rev the engine, how much revving can you do? Can you bring it up to 3k - 4k RPMs and hold it there for more than 10 seconds?
