Overheating?

The exhast pipes on my breva 750 are blue-ing half way back to the mufflers. It just seems too far. Is this an indication of overheating? Thanks.

No, that's not a sign of overheating. All pipes will do this given time, it's just in the nature of the metal to change color when it's heated like that. In order to prevent this from occuring some manufacturers make double walled pipes... basically a pipe around a the pipe that doesn't get heated up. This means the normal pipe will blue, but the chromed one around it will not.

The blue color is definitely natural and isn't anything likely to worry about.

well, it's normal and there's nothing "wrong". however, if its blueing really far your bike might be running a little lean. dont worry, it was designed this way to meet EPA emissions and Guzzi has made it so that you dont ever really have to worry about it. A properly fueled bike will turn its pipes blue too, but usually just to the first bend. there are ways to add more fuel into the mix your bike makes and it will run a little cooler, this is nice for aircooled bikes' longevity, and also smooths out the power too. and on some bikes, even with all the proper everything and a stoich (exactly proper air/fuel ratio) you wont notice any difference over stock so why bother.

so in summary, if you want to mess with it so that it blues them a little less, you can. but, there's no real need and I kinda think the bluing looks cool. I would intentionall do it to mine if I had a cruiser bike
