Hey all,
A buddy of mine has his eye on the 2007 HD 883XLC Sporty and he asked me if I had heard about any problems with them overheating. I have not personally heard anything, but I knew I could rely on my Total Motorcycle buds to steer me correct. He said he heard that due to the closed loop EFI that the exhaust and motor temp runs very high on the 07 models. I would love to get some feedback about this so that I can pass along the information.
Cheers!

Re: 2007 883 Sporty Overheating?
None of the '07 lineup from Harley is prone to "overheating", especially the Sportsters. There are issues with excessive heat radiating from the engine, however, especially when riding in prolonged stop and go traffic, but this is mostly on all the 96ci models. The motors are set to run on the lean side in order to pass EPA emissions testing but so far there have been no problems with engine damage as a result. There is a cure in the form of a re-map for the EFI system that will let the bike run a little richer and reduce the amount of heat, but I believe that is only available for the 96ci motors, not the Sportsters.ericeverson wrote:A buddy of mine has his eye on the 2007 HD 883XLC Sporty and he asked me if I had heard about any problems with them overheating.
Tell your friend to join the Sportster/Buell Owners Forum, they'll have all the info he needs.
