Windshield scratches

Any suggestions on how to remove minor scratches from a windshield?

Lots of buffing, my 84 has many scratches on the windshield and my electric buffer and some good cleaners and wax cleans it right up. I could'nt see through it before.

you can try rubbing compound (its what i use to get off scratches on my bass

(i kinda intent to accidentally well 'put it down in the wrong places'

I'm not sure about this, but maybe use CD cleanerand buff it? Seem like a cd repair kit might have a dual purpose.
