First of all, I have been reading this site for like 2 monthes and everytime I log in, I learned something new. Thanks to all those who post tips! Believe it or not it's a huge help.I actually just became member today after reading everyone's post for like 2 monthes. Lots of useful tips and things that you know that needs to be constantly reminded as a rookie. My first bike which was 93 CBR600 F2 got stolen after 2 weeks. That was like 8 years ago and I was scared or more like bitter and hesitant to get a new bike but I couldn't get away from that feeling of freedom that you ONLY get from riding a motorcycle. I finally bought a 1999 CBR600 F4 and it's been a blast. I have been trying to remember every little detail that I learned at MSF that I didn't finish. Had too much to drink the night before and what a expensive lesson. I had to pay another 200 to enroll again. It's coming up on July 7 th. Anyway,I love riding my bike and every time I encounter something I think of it as a learning process. One thing that I'm not used to since I've had my moped for so long is that I don't have problem counter steering but it seems like I'm always trying to lean the opposite way because when I counter steer, bike automatically lean the other way but for some odd reason I've been kind a scared to lean with the bike. any suggestions on getting over this fear? I have been riding everyday for like past 2 monthes putting good 20 to 25 miles per day. Also say if you're turning left,,,do you push out with your left arm to lean the bike or do you pull in with your right arm to lean? is it important to keep your back staright up so you have a better view of what's going on in front? or kind a loose?

Let me see if I remember this right. If not, I'm sure one of the rider coaches will correct me....

To turn your bike you SLPLR:
Slow - slow to an appropriate speed before the turn.
Look - locate your exit point and look at where you want to go.
Press - press the bars in the direction you want to go.
Lean - lean with the bike into the turn
Roll - roll on the throttle through the turn to increase the centrifigal force.

Question for you - goofydawg1977

How do you manage to ride in those hot days?? Yesterday it must have been 90+ degrees with lots of humidity. I just wanted to melt. I was married in Maui, so I know how hot Hawaii can get. What kind of gear do you have over there that keeps you cool during those hot hot days?

I live in Oahu but I've been to Maui and Kauai as well. I lived here for past 15 years so I know what weather's like here.In my opinion,,, you can't ask for a better weather to ride. It hardly hits 90's. It's always between low 70's to 80's.Even if it does you won't feel like it because Hawaii always have trade winds that comes from mountains and oceans so it's always cool. You just got to remember to wear either a mesh jacket or like long sleeve shirt to avoid UV rays. I have been going around the island every Sunday and I always stay cool even with my gear(Helmet,,,gloves,,,jacket,,,jeans) hell sometimes when you pass by pali highway or windward side,,,It gets COLD even with full gears. So it never gets as bad as you think. You might've came when the weather wasn't so great. When our tradewinds disappear,,,it's rare but it happens,,it gets hot but that's like 20 days out of the year,,,which I think it's not too bad.
