Hey guys,
Its almost been a week now since I knocked off my motorcyle. I was cruising down Bedford Road in Hitchin, Hertfordshire when i saw a guy in an Astra waiting to pull out.
He started pulling out looking right (which is the wrong way in england) i carried on going assuming that he was going to look left, i mean come on what half decent driver (if anyway) looks the wrong way when pulling out of quite a busy road at times? so anyway he looks left at last and claims that he never saw me? and then accelerated into the part of the road that I was riding.
I heard something snap Im not sure where and then before i knew what hit me i have gone flying over his bonnet and I think knocked my self out temporalily on his bonnet? before i knew it i have opened my eyes to see a curb coming closer and closer to me i thought to my self "ow great now im going to smash into this curb headfirst?" then as im laying there in the road my mates come rushing over making sure that i was awake firstly before going for the guy who has hit me.
Luckily i have survived my accident with mainly bruising, cuts and stitches in my hand (between my thumb and index finger on my right hand) how im not in hospital I have no idea, how i haven't broken any bones i haven't got a clue. when my bike gets returned from storage i will post pics. Lastly just to inform you of this idiotic driver appartently he has just made a statement /claim saying that I was speeding hmmm one second I thought you didn't see me?
Anyways sorry for boring you on my stry but i really needed to let out what i feeling and get this off my chest.
Hope you understand and happy riding also believe me i will be returning to motorcycles shortly.
Regards,
Chapperz
p.s I appoligse for the bad grammer and spelling

Hi Chapperz
Sorry to hear about the accident. Sounds like you were lucky. I've been trying to imagine what it would be like seeing the curb coming up to hit you. That must have been scary.
Hope you are back up in the saddle soon.
The accident must have happened just about the same time as someone tried to deck me at Coreys Mill in Stevenage (deliberately, I think!). I live in Hitchin and in my opinion the riding round here has got really dangerous in the last year or so. About three times a week I have to take avoiding action on my way into and out of work in Stevenage Town Centre during the rush hour.
Where on Bedford Road did it happen?
Take care mate
Richard

I don't know about "half decent", but around here drivers constantly make this fundamental mistake - look the wrong way when pulling out. (Or they have a cell phone glued to their head and don't look either way!!Chapperz wrote:He started pulling out looking right (which is the wrong way in england) i carried on going assuming that he was going to look left, i mean come on what half decent driver (if anyway) looks the wrong way when pulling out of quite a busy road at times?

Glad you survived, and hope you heal up soon.
