1975 Honda cb360 Gushing oil

Picked up my first bike yesterday didn't run but with a quick rebuild on the carbs fired up and ran great :D Then I noticed the oil pumping out the left side of the bike at a rapid rate :(. So here is what I've found, the shaft that pushes the clutch has been replaced with a threaded rod. This is where the oil is pumping out. Now I don't know anything about bikes motor or the whatever so were to I go now. I pulled off the pipes and checked the clutch and it looks good but the oil pumping out the left side of the bike is still present. Is there a casket, o-ring that I may be missing since the shaft was replaced with a threaded rod???? Thanks for any help!!!!!b

Clutch should be on the right side of the bike. Unless it's a right side chain drive...

Anyways there should be a gasket of somesort around that rod. But the fact that it's threaded would mean it would shred the gasket. You need to get the right rod and the right gasket.

Some of our members know of a couple of sites that take care of older bike parts. I'm not really sure what they are. All I can suggest is a local dealer or www.bikebandit.com They might have the parts you need.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

You are probably referring to #10, "Rod Clutch Lifter"

It is NOT threaded.

Thanks so much this link has given me so much info it's what I've been looking for. Cant find any drawing like these anywhere, and the bike resto is good to check out. Very creative guy. That should be my problem the threaded rod is far to thin for the oil seal to do its job. Never did even notice it there otherwise that should have been obvious. Odd that somebody would try to repair it this way.

It really does amaze me that people try to sell parts for up to three times the retail price from Honda even. Not always a deal on ebay. Thanks very much for the info looks like I need to find a reasonable parts supplier since honda wont ship to Canada. Anybody of one for up here?

Nevermind the threaded rod being a smaller diameter, that seal will never seal against any size threaded anything.

Make sure you change the seal when you install a new and correct rod. The old one is guaranteed to be pooched.
