My apologies, but for some reason this post brought back the memory of the bikerwash stuff

Anyways, I generally use standard car cleaning products, for the bike, and autoglym helmet and visor cleaners for the lid

For the inbetween major cleanings, I just use window cleaner. Mild and keeps the bugs to a min. when your collecting them daily by the hundreds.
If really stuck on, then soak the item and a paper towel and drap it on top of the item for 10 minutes or more, reapplying windows cleaner to keep it wet.

Plexus plastic cleaner works well on helmet visors.

I use Fast Orange aerosol to clean the bike. That and a dozen paper towels is faster and better than washing it. Spray directly on grimy parts, or spray on the towel and wipe the dusty parts. Even gets saddlebags clean. Reminds me I need to get some tire dressing. They're looking awfully dry.
For the helmet I use liquid dish soap, or just water.
Water and toilet paper makes visors invisible.

I use plain water, and a clean cloth. I wax every few weeks (Turtle Wax), and the same for my helmet (Shield also), I have only used soap 1 time in the 6 and a half months I have had my bike. The only reason I did so then, was because of bugs, and road grime from the rain.

I was commenting on a friend's meticulously shined Harley one day and he went into his garage and handed me my own bottle of "Pig Snot."
