I want to start a club

I would like to start a motorcycle club in my area. The club will be for those of us who are in recovery and like to ride together, clean and sober. The only club in the area now are the Hells Angels.
The question is, would they have a problem with a club like mine? If I know any of these guys I would ask, but I don't. How do I find out?
Personally I can't see this being a problem but you never know.

Sounds like a good idea to me. You might try attending some AA meetings, and putting the word out at rehab centers. There's bound to be a few bikers at those places who could benefit from having riding buddies who don't drink, etc.

start a chapter of the SCRC (southern cruisers riding club) There are two chapters on vancouver island, soon to be three. Can't imagine why there isn't one in vancouver. Heck there's even one in princeton.

I'm a member of WOLF ( Wellness of life fellowship ) and some of us ride, so we got together and decided to start a club. Now we just have to make sure it's ok with the HA's in the area. Check out our site at http://members.shaw.ca/wolfclub

But if you don't want a war, wouldn't it be best to get there blessing. If we just start running our colors I think there would be a problem unless they know about it first. This is just a thought.

As far as I know, Hells Angels dont like other back patch rivals, as long as you dont where colours on your back, like Hells Angels. A badge or small patch to put on your sleeve or jacket thats OK. This is how it used to be in the olden days, I assume thats the way it is today.

The HA are a pretty easygoing lot as long as you obey one simple rule - don't wear a back patch (especially one with rockers). It is a good idea to get in touch with them just to let them know what your club is all about. Inform them that you are not an outlaw club and that any patches you wear are bought - not earned. Explain the reason and purpose of your club and tell them you are informing them about it out of courtesy and respect and you'll have no troubles with them at all. I've formed a few non-outlaw clubs over the years in different parts of Canada and in Germany and have never had any issues with the HA or any other outlaw clubs because I've always informed the local chapters first.
