nose bleeds

#1 Unread post by Ninja Geoff »

SUCK. That's all there is too it. It's like a steamy pile of horse "poo poo" on your day. "Hey, my nose is runny -- OH MY GOD, THE BLOOD IS FLOWING LIKE WATER COMING OUT OF A SHOWER HEAD." And apparently it was bleeding a little before I noticed it and dripped down my throat cause i feel like puking. Good thing i reached for the remote when I did (thanks to Mr Biaggi for making me want to change the channel, for some reason I can't stand him) or I'd be tasting it more than I am.

Yuk.

So, let me get this straight!
You are an EMT (or studying to be one) and you are getting all bent out of shape because of a nosebleed?
Are you sure you made the right career choice?
I always follow the rules.
The only exception to the rule occurs when I make an exception to the rule not to make an exception to the rule and that only occurs under exceptional circumstances.

for some reason I seem to like the taste of my nosebleed... or my blood in general... it has that copper like taste to it. In fact I stop getting squeamish when I go for a blood test and instead I get kinda hungry or thirsty when I see blood flowing into those tubes.

Too bad I still turn away in scenes where someone gets rip or stabbed.

WEELLLLLL.... I was watching SBK and Biaggi had just won and they were interviewing him. And for some reason, he just makes me angry, so as i leaned over to get the remote, blood, out of no where, from my nose. I blame Rome for that one.

And Zed, other peoples blood is one thing, my own should be staying INSIDE me, where it belongs. And it was more of an annoyance than anything.

Um... ya - Geoff never said that it made him squeamish. And certainly if my own arm gets amputated it's going to affect me much differently than dealing with an amputee patient of mine. Geesh! Some of the EMTs that I met during my training and some with whom I now work, have no qualms in starting an IV on their patients, but if you come at them with a needle, they go running.

I like the taste of blood too, but having larger amounts of blood in the stomach can cause vomiting, and I'm certain that it won't be as yummy on its way out!

Spontaneous nosebleeds (not caused by a trauma) can be bothersome since there must be a reason for it. Did you check your blood pressure? Possibly you stood up so quickly you caused extra pressure in those capillaries? Has this happened to you before? If all seems normal, then yes, blame it on Rome!

Cheers,
Loonette

Maybe you should stop mining nose gold since you can't share it with the towns people.

It's from Family Guy... the one where Chris gets caught with liquor and where Stewie makes a funny face after Brian says "upside down face."

Well, I've figured it's really because i just started working 40 hrs/wk at work. All that constant exposure to heat, dryness, and what not, combined with the sniffles and constant nose blowing of the past week, finally caught up to me. I know this may sound weird, but as soon as I saw the blood I thought "ohnoes!" and I already had a towel on my nose and leaned foward without thinking. I can only hope things are that smooth once I get out into the field.

I get pissed off when I sneeze and blood just splatters all over the place, it's a pain to clean up after a few minutes.
