I got a SHARK S650 and its INCREDIBLE. Perfect fit, I can sleep in it. I love it. You'll realize when you find the right helmet for your head.

I have a black HJC CS12. I think it's a good helmet. Few vents, but it's not a hindrance at all. Mine's a smidge too big though. It doesn't flop around on my head but there's a little bit of play. Guess it happened when I got my hair cut....I had a pseudo-afro thing going on. :P

Bottom line - find something that fits and doesn't hurt and, then get it. When you ride, the last thing you'll be thinking about is your helmet and how it feels, as long as you've got something that fits well.

I also have a HJC CS-12. I tried on a bunch at the shop, and it seemed to fit the best. It has vents and they work pretty good. Only complaint is the vent by my mouth, it drys out my lips. I always have to have some chapstick with me.... All in all I like it and it matches my bike.

I love my exo 700 from scorpion.

I loved the fit of the shark, but it didn't have ear holes so there was no place for hte comm system. I didn't want to cut things up myself... :(

Many makers only make one or two different size shells for a model. The difference in size is the padding.

I bought my HJC Symax in size XL. After a year the padding compressed (or my head lost weight :) ). I ordered the size L padding and it fits terrific.

You might contact HJC to see if you can buy the next size smaller padding for your model/size helmet.

BTW - Nolan's don't work like this, as my wife found out.

I've been looking into Helmets as well. I like the EXO 400, but I'm curious, can you buy replacement face shields? I'd like to get a smoked or mirrored one(for daytime riding only of course)

Two things to consider when choosing a helmet (there are heaps more, but two that I will mention):

1) The helmet will not feel like it does in the shop for very long. Your head will over time shape the helmet's padding, and it will become perfect for YOUR head. Anyone else who puts it on will wonder how you can wear the thing!

2) Helmets are a 'perishable' item. You will do well to replace your helmet every two or three years, unless of course you have a fall while wearing your helmet (in which case, you're off to the shop for a newbie! Even if you drop your helmet on your way out of the shop, best advice is to turn right back around and fork out for another!)

With point number two in mind, the less you can get away with spending on a helmet, the smarter you will appear to family and friends! In Australia, there is one safety standard. That is to say I can spend $179 on a helmet, and it will safe my noggin as much as a $1400 helmet will. I don't know what the safety requirements are where you're at, but this would be worth checking out before purchasing.

As for the visors, these are replacable on all helmets as far as I know. They need to be, because they can be damaged without compromising the integrity of the helmet. It would be mighty annoying if you just spend $747 on a helmet only to find out after you've scratched the visor with your keys that you need a whole new helmet! :frusty:
It's just not the case. You can change the visors as often as you change your clothes.
You'll have to speak up... I'm wearing a towel.

I got an EXO700 and its the softest thing ive ever put my head in... its fantastic while riding

and as for faceshields I bought one of those polychromatic face shields which darken when exposed to UV light and lighten to clear when there is no light, its great for using all the time (only need one shield and dont really have to change it)

I have a fulmer, and a gmax modular. Both are pretty comfy. as much as i've been wearing them they just kinda "fit" now though. gmax had some rather large ear holes....so i stuck speakers in em.

I hear so so so so many good things about the arai xd from my dual sport buddies. It seems having a big arsed visor keeping the sun out of your eyes is the ticket.

I wonder. Cruiser and what looks like a dirt bike helmet.... hrmmmmmmmm
