Just got my permit and I'm all rev'd up!

I was looking for a good source of information and community to discuss with and this seems great. I'm from Jersey and I just got my permit!

I failed the written test my first time by 1 question so I was pretty upset. I went in the second time after reading the manual a couple times a week and I passed!

I let out a verbal "YES!" at the local DMV which turned a few heads but I couldn't help it. Those tests always frustrate me (failed my written automotive test the 3 times! )

Congratulations. Don't worry about the written test, if it's anything like New York's was then most of the questions are about alcohol and street signs and not motorcycles.

what part of jersey?

I live in Northern NJ in Morris County.

Well I'm really happy I passed it. I know the test isn't that difficulty itself but I have a problem with tests the tell you "Wrong!" when you answer the question incorrectly. It kind of psychs me out. I'd rather just know at the END of the test!

No bike yet, I was reading lots of the stickies you guys have posted. I'm thinking about getting the Ninja. Not sure if I'll buy a used one or not I'm still debating that

+1 on a biased recommendation for the Ninja.

I'm in the NYC/NJ area and I just saw another Ninja down near Grand Central yesterday. Though, as many of the posts you've read say, sit on a bunch of bikes and do your homework. The Ninja is a great all-around starter bike (the 250 or the 500) but there are several others that are as well. There are typically lots of used Ninjas on Craigslist around here; I got mine off of Ebay within a few days of when I started looking.

I'm not too worried about turn around time for when I can get the bike. I just don't know anything about them. I'm afraid I'll buy a lemon :\

It's worth it to pay a mechanic to look at the bike before you hand over the money, and to make sure you get all the service records and see that the title is clear. You'll need to get the bike inspected by a mechanic after you buy it (state inspection) most likely anyway.

I'm not sure if you, or anyone, is familiar with the laws in new jersey. But lets say someone sells me a bike and it's a lemon. I ride it over to a mechanic and he says the rammershams shot and if you don't replace the badinkle you'll be in bad shape (bare with me I'm no mechanic).

Aside from relying on a person's "Good Nature" to take the bike back, which we'll assume they decline. Does this mean I need to go through some lengthy litigation?
