I thought insurance was a non-requirement for motorcycles? It is for Washington state anyways.

[thread veer] Even though you're not required to carry insurance on your motorcycle in Washington, you are still liable for a chunk of money should you cause an accident. It's a good idea to carry liability insurance at a minimum. [/thread veer]

Also, if you do get in an accident, one that you caused, or just a single-party accident - you're going to want some cash to cover expenses, as it just might not be the bike that you're coming out of pocket for.
