knoxbox back at it!

#1 Unread post by knoxbox »

Okay, hmm... intruduction.

Hi, i'm ryan, i'm 24 yo, i've been on and off motorcycles sense i was 4, i hadn't been on a bike sense i was 18 so roughly 6 years. I was sitting downstairs watching tv with my wife (just got married) and my mother, and my mom starts talking about buying my dad a motorcycle.

:jawdrop: I just sat there trying to figure out if this was actually my mother talking. You see my dad has wanted a bike sense... well FOREVER, he has had bikes in the past before i was born and then he got me into racing dirtbikes at 4, and i raced until 7. Then he baught me a suzuki gn125 at 14, and then a honda rebel 250 at 16. I quickly outgrew the rebel, but we would go for quick rides him on the 125 and me on the 250, since i nearly doubled him in size. So its always been him sacrificing his desires for mine, and this continued into cars as I got older.

Anyways, after discussing how she'd feel if he killed himself on it, and my wife and I explaining he could get killed anytime for any reason when its your time to go its your time to go. She decides she would buy him a bike for his 55th birthday, and so two days later there we were in the suzuki dealership off exit 407 sevierville, tn. My dad and I had been in here just a week earlier discussing our dreams to go cruising father and son like the past. A nice 07 Suzuki Boulevard c50T full dress was on display, he kept looking at it, I about had him talked into it when he said if you can't get on i'm not getting one. So, I explained to my mom how he was looking at it, and the sales lady came over, and 30 minutes later, the bike was financed.

It was tuesday and my dad would be home friday, so we made plans for me to pick up the bike on thursday, It had been around 6 years since I had been on a bike. My wife and I drove up to the dealership to pick up the bike, I was so nervous. I was nearly shaking, I didn't want to wreck the bike before my dad got to see it. The sales lady went over all the info and said its all yours.

I sat on the bike, started her up, and put her in first, and suddenly it was like I had never stopped riding. My hands and feet worked in coordination as though they knew exactly what to do even though it had been so many years.

The next day, my dad got home and I was at worked, he called me asking me all about it. We talked for nearly a hour about the bike, When I got home my mom and dads cars were there but the bike was gone... I ran in the house, MOM! MOM! i thought for sure she would be home... about that time i go outside they are BOTH pulling up on the bike.

:jawdrop: yet agian my mom completely suprises me. I was so jealous, I wanted one so bad...

The next morning I talked my dad into going to the same dealership agian. I walked around looking at the bikes, my intention was to buy, and no matter the cost I was leaving there with a bike. I walked up behind a blue suzuki boulevard m50, didn't know thats what it was at the time, just saw the clear led tail light, sporty looking thing, reminded me of a cross between a crotch rocket and a cruiser, had all the perks of both, leds tails but comfortable seat, my mom was completely against me getting a crotch rocket, and this looked at thought it was the best of both worlds. Within a hour, It was mine. hence why I am now here!

Me and my old man spent the weekend cruising, put nearly 600 miles on the bikes, its about time for the first service. He'll be back in town this friday and thats were they will go.

Sorry to write you guys a book, I'm still excited.
Take care and safe riding.

CONGRATS to the BOTH of you...

Instead oftaking the biks in for service on Friday, Why not surprise your father (again), and have them serviced during the week? That way when he gets home on Friday, both bikes will be fully serviced adn ready for the next father/son trip..??

Wow, that was a really great story. A co-worker had a similar story when his wife surprised him with a new bike for Christmas. Kudo's to those women!
