Too much gas

The closest gas station requires pre-pay for gas. I asked for $10 worth of gas because I assumed my bike would need it all. Anyways, I was watching the fuel get higher and higher in the tank untill I started to get worried. However, I still had about 1 dollar left to fill up. Now, I pushed this really hard and made sure I used that dollar. With the bike tilted up without the stand, it reaches maybe a taddd bit higher than the bottom of the ring. I think I'll just ask for my dollar back next time.
So anyways..

It can leak out if you take a turn, leak out as it warms up inside the tank in the sun, etc. I really wouldn't worry about it too much, especially if you're going on any sort of ride afterwards.

It's best never to fill up to the top of the filler neck. This is because when the sun comes out and the temps rise so will the gasoline in the tank. If it's high up in the neck it'll leak out and ruin the paint if not caught and cleaned up soon enough.

The faded spots on my tank are reminders on never to be too greedy when filling up... or if I do go for a lengthy ride.

There is actually an overflow in the filler neck that drains via a hose to below the bike on most modern bikes. I've never had it gush out of the filler neck in a corner and I tend to fill my limited-range bikes right to the limit.
