Tuck in and get on the throttle. You'll be amazed what you can go up and over. Don't try to slow down unless you know you can stop. Fido is gonna die no matter what if you're moving at any kind of speed and the bike is waaaaay more stable on the throttle then on the brakes.

As to labradors, basselopes, etc....plow the cocksuckers down. I've seen video of people hitting deer and riding it out, no reason you can't survive a big dog. The front of your bike is gonna look like it got sent through the cleaners but you won't necessarily eat it.

Remember, rule number one to riding a motorcycle is COMMIT. Never give up hope, commit and ride the motorcycle until the bitter end. If you don't make it too bad, but you definitely won't if you don't try. I can't say that enough.

Down in Texas you can run over rabbits but you have to watch out for the Jackalopes, their horns get caught in your spokes.

To me cats and other small animals are not such a big problem. I haven't seen too many get in my way, and if they did.... sorry, bike wins, they lose. I have two cats, and hope they never get hit, but it is the way of animals being in the big bad world. Sometimes they get hit.

Now dogs are another story. They are not only big enough sometimes to cause an accident, but also are fearless at the wrong time. Like chasing a bike, going at you with full teeth, or chasing something else into the road and getting in your path. For the reason alone, I think dogs have to be secured. I'd hate to kill someones dog and I'd hate it more if I had to kick someone butt for making me crash because their dog intersected with me.

I hit a deer, or rather, he ran into me last month. It came out of the ditch on my left side and I didn't even have a chance to try to avoid it. He ran into the side of my bike, bent (but didn't break) my front signal lite, I wacked him on the head with my knee, then he spun around and hit the saddlebag. I was doing 120 km/h at the time and it sure tossed the bike around, but I managed to keep it upright. No serious damage to the bike, I straightened out the saddlebag & put the signal light back in position, but it sure scared the S*** out of me.

Here in Ohio, you gotta watch out for groundhogs, those little fur covered speed bumps are tough as nails. One of them ran across the road in front of me, I hit him with the back wheel of my V-Star, it nearly gave me whip lash. The last I saw of him, he was running across four lanes of traffic like nothing happened.

Yeah, those guys are nuts. I see them sometimes sitting by the road watching me. It will be the last minute and I'll think, thank God you did decide to run in front of me just then. They are big ole spuds.
