Captain America bike

#1 Unread post by willw »

So, I caught a bit of "Easy Rider" the other night on AMC, I think, and I got to wondering what ever happened to the original Captain America bike featured in that movie?

Does anyone know?

I know that the motorcycle show at the Guggenheim Museum in NY a few years back had a Captain America bike on display but it was a copy.

Is the original one still around?

It's at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa.

Isn't that one a replica? I thought i read somewhere that the original was stolen, stripped and sold for parts. No really. Can't remember where the hell i read that.

Two Captain America bikes were built for the movie. One was stolen, along with both Billy Bikes, after filming, and the other was crashed in the final scene. Rebuilt by Haggerty, the crashed Captain America was sold at auction in 1996.
