Ive never tried it, but I guess riding down some country roads or an empty highway would be a fine time to put on some tunes. But I dunno if its a good idea for riding around town because you really should be listening for horns, sirens, etc.
I can definitely imagine rolling down some country road listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughan, ZZ Top, Zeppelin, or any other blues rock. Id feel like a bad am-fm.

3 -5 a.m. on a service road along the Long Island Expressway. Pretty deserted so I had to listen to some tunes since my parallel twin is too smooth to put out a good sound.
Cake - Long Line of Cars
Cake - Never there
Golden Earring - Radar Love
Then some 3 Doors Down and Kasabian.
The music works well with the painted lines while doing 40 - 55 mph.
Then along comes a Goldwing with a speaker system that's not too loud but loud enough for both of us to hear.

One thing you can count on: You push a man too far, and sooner or later he'll start pushing back.

Only ever did once, and I forget what specifically was on it. But I know it was high tempo techno. Other music that generallt inspires speed is best left to the truck for me. Though, I do have a tendancy to sing inside my helmet, good thing it's a full face.
