In that case he's a sell-out. If he's an expert bike builder, that's how he needs to represent himself...regardless of what the producers want. I already gave him props for his mad skills with metal, but if he can't even get the bike running or keep it from catching fire then what's the point?

I also realize a certain amount of the "drama" and "horse-play" seen on American Chopper and American Hotrod is all for the camera too, but I promise you if I ever win the lottery I will NOT buy anything from either one of those circuses. The only builders I respect and trust at this point are Jesse James and Chip Foose. They are the shiznit!

To answer the poll question , yes I do , I do all of my own wrenching for the simple reason I am the only mechanic I trust to work on my scoots .
As far as television goes , don't do TV , think it's merely a narcotic taken thru the eyes .
Just my 2¢ worth .
Kindest regards, Wizzard

Have always changed it myself....guess it puts me in the cheap category, besides I like to do my own maintenance.

I had my bike serviced yesterday $40, hard to beat that price especially since I only plan on doing it 2x a year.

I have changed my oil everytime except for twice. First time was for 600 mile service, just for warranty issues. The second time we were moving, and all of the tools and stuff were packed, and I refuse to go long without oil change. So I had the shop do it. I know the mechanics there, so I can actually trust them. Otherwise I wouldn't.

Speaking of oil changes, I just switched to Redline synthetic couple of days ago, and it was well worth it. Much smoother in general now. $14 a quart though!

I've always done my own oil changes. I think in the 12 years I rode, I only had a shop do it twice. Last time the shop did it, my next oil change the drain stipped. I've got that fixed now, and will be doing most of my own maintenance. I've heard some shops won't even touch a 27 year old bike.

I'm going to change my own oil next time. The Stealer charged me about $65 to do it. What kind of oil do you recommend? I was thinking about Castrol GTX 10w40.
