I use the rear brake every time I need to stop (along with the front brake), or reduce speed.

I make a point of using the rear to stabilize the bike when doing very slow, tight turns as well.

Why do you ask?

I rest my foot on the rear while downshifting, just enough to activate the light while I'm slowing.

During normal braking I ignore the rear brake.

On the track I ignore the rear brake.

On slow speed turns... I'll drag it a little for stability.

I also use the rear brake to keep me stopped once I have stopped.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

If the road is dry or slightly damp I will use the front and back brake to get full braking power. The rear brake can help stabilize the bike in slow speed maneuvers.

When the road is pretty wet and / or it's raining out I will put more emphasis on the front brake and use the rear brake as lightly.

Whats a rear brake??????

If you would have taken the MSF course you would know to use the rear and front brake whenever you use the brakes however to use more front brake than rear brake. You can, if you dont know what your doing that is, grab too much front and find yourself feeling the road real quick.

I tend to use my rear more if i'm in a gravelly situation, or wet, leaves, sand etc.

Normal stops are always a hodgepodge brake application wise for me. a little of this a dash of that..
