SV. For everything mentioned PLUS - Fuel Injection! Nothing sweeter than just starting her up and taking off, no "warm up" needed (unless thats part of your ritual).

Fuel injection FTW. I love mine, I ride it pretty much every day to work. I have the non-s.

I did mess with mine a little, no pipe, but I put on KN filters, Up 3 teeth on the back sprocket.

When I am drag racing sport bikes from light to light, I love being able to tar the 600s, and hang with the liter bikes. The main problem is, I can only go bout 120, maybe 125. So once they ramp up the power, I am the one on the short end of the stick.

Not that I condone reckless driving behavior. Wait who wrote that stuff about drag racing....

I have a feeling that as a Second bike, you'd quickly be wanting more power than the 500 offers......in my opinion it makes a great first bike though. I'm presuming you mean "second" as "upgrade", not as "additional".

Hey have any SV650 owners really become bored with their bike? I know the SV has a lot of torque and isn't really lacking in the power department, but I have a lot of 750cc super-sport friends who make the sv sound weak. I'm sure they don't hit 150mph like the race replicas will, but as far as one's every day street ride, has anyone envied for more power than what the SV delivers?

You'll need no more than what the SV gives you on the street. Have any of your naysaying friends actually ridden an SV?

I'm sure they haven't. If any bike will not reach 150-160mph, than it's a slug!

It's funny because my friend will brag about hitting 190-200 on his stock GSXR1000. I question if he's talking 200km/h or mph and he's convinced his bike will go 200mph! I'd believe 160...maybe even 170 downhill with a backwind...but 200mph is out of the question.

But hey, if it strengthens your ego, ride at 200mph all you want!
