any thoughts on the new Suzuki GSX650F

I know this is a new engine and transmission, but does anyone have thoughts or an opinion they'd like to share about this bike??

I have a 600cc Bandit and it's nice to see that Suzuki is replacing it with a newer, better engineered bike (the Bandit was getting quite outdated). I understand that it's an entry-level sport bike but compared to the Yamaha YZF600 and other similar entry level sport bikes it seems heavy. I'm sure it has plenty of power but at 476lbs dry probably over 500lbs wet, that's pushing into Hayabusa territory. Also I hope it retains some of the Bandit's more comfortable ergonomics but it seems like it's moving away from that. Has anyone seen one yet?

The bike is pretty much identical to my '07 Bandit 650S, not counting the new fairings of course. If you take a look at the Canadian Suzuki site, you will see the specs for the two bikes are pretty much identical, I think except for the dry weight (which I assume is slightly different due to the different fairings).

stay away from the gsxf's...

u can see that they still havent figured out a way to make the vibrations lessen...

they are still using the huge blocks on the ends of the grips, and the ones under the foot pegs as well...

i had the new 750 and after a few long rides i got rid of the bike pronto... the vibration is so bad that i could only do about an hours worth of riding before i had to stop, it didnt matter where, i would have to stop or the pain of the uncomfortable riding position mixed with horrible vibrations would make the ride unbearable...

the bike was great for the money, and good for quick around town trips... but i cannot recomend it for anything else...

You are talking about a Kat, right? If this bike is indeed basically a fully faired '07 Bandit 650S as others have said, I haven't found there to be a lot of vibration through the bars or pegs. I love my Bandit.

Inline 4... high revving, steel frame, engine hard bolted to frame.

You're going to get a lot of vibration no matter which manufacturer you go with if you're using that formula. Sorry mate.

The bike will be out in Dec in the US. I don't see the YZF anymore on Yamaha's site - I wonder if it was replaced by the R-6S even though the latter has a much more aggressive stance. The GSXF looks to have a more upright riding position, closer to the FZ6, but with a full fairing. For the price, the ZZR is a much more powerful bike, but also more sporty. I would compare it to the Ninja 650 (though, the ninja is an inline twin) for performance, comfort, etc...Both seem to be excellent beginner/moderate rider bikes. I am very curious to see how it will pan out.
