02 honda cbr 600 f4i high running temp question?

#1 Unread post by shawnhpi »

Ive had it since 880 miles and have 2030 on it now. Im in ROC NY and the temp is usualy 70's - 80's a bit cooler (by the lake). Bike is always running at over 200 and fan kicks on at about 226 and happens alot.

Frame gets burning hot also along with the (gas) adjustable canister for rear shock.

Is something wrong with my bike or am I doing something wrong. Should I get it looked at.

Also what kinda noises or feels should I be looking for while riding to make sure nothing is mechanicaly wrong with the bike.

Any help would be great I just want to make sure its fine so I can ride with out worry.

My bar ends are loose i guess. I can grip em with my hand and turn em. is that bad? I tried to tighten em but they just keep turning. Will aftermarket bar ends fix this or are my handles messed up?

oknow for mod questions

I want an undertail. Where can I go what websites should I look at. I know Hotbodies does not make for 2002 hondas. Bike colour is yellow.

Can any one take a picture of there under tail with out a undertail kit. When I bought mine the fender was all cut up and now i have a wire hangin down I pull the end and it releases the rear seat. My main sit also is held on by screws is that correct?

Check your coolant levels to start with. They might be low or need replacing.

As to the bar ends, try removing them completely, it's possible that you have a set that are designed to spin on the end. Just a puck that spins along the screw that holds them in place. At the very least you can check them and see if there is threading inside that has warn off, or notches that were rubbed down allowing it to spin.

And I think this should be somewhere in the maintenance forum.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Sorry to link to another forum, but there are a lot of WERA racers in this (CBRWorld.net) crew, and this thread asked pretty much the same question.

Just for reference, my 2005 F4i quickly hits 225 in stop-and-go traffic. The fan takes care of it, though. So long as the bike doesn't hit 250+, you're fine.

In the illustrious words of my coworker. *newfie accent* "Billy she's been dropped!"

Looks like it landed on the bar end, and rather then replacing the whole handly bar someone just bought a new end. I'd make sure that your bars are still true.
