Smoke on startup

#1 Unread post by GCAnderson »

I just bought an 1987 Goldwing with 33,000 miles. It runs great but smokes on startup. Should I be worried?

Nah. I hear that's typical for Wings, especially if you lean it over on the sidestand while parked.
Let me get this straight... it's one down and four up, right?

Thanks! You have taken a load off my mind. It is my first heavy bike, and first bike in over 25 years, I love it.

Great! Welcome back to motorcycling. There are lots of returning riders here at TMW... you should fit right in!

That's a low mileage Wing, especially considering the year. Congrats on the lucky find!

Bad valve guide seals, bike will run forever like that. Or pull the head, and replace them.
