Hows the Hyosung GT250R's reliability?

#1 Unread post by Erg0n »

I've been hearing mixed reviews that it breaks down and is not so reliable. I was thinking of getting this bike early next year but am unsure now.

Anyone have this bike and would like to share their thoughts on it?

I've got its cruiser cousin the GV250 for the past 4 months and have put
just over 3,000km on the odometer without any major problems.

From my (ongoing) learning experience I would recommend the hyo 250's as great starter bikes. As for reliability issues, so far so good.

Am pretty sure that the 250R will soon give the little ninja a run for its money.

I also have the GV250. It is the 2008 model, and have only had it a week or so. The reviews I had been reading were excellent, which combined with the two year unlimited miles/kilometers parts and labor warranty, sold me. Not sure if the GT250R is the same, but the GV250 has the speedo in kilometers. A little hard to get used to in the US, but not a big deal.

I think a lot of the reliability issues depend on who sets up the bike. From what I have heard, a lot of the problems people have had with them come from them being incorrectly set up by whatever dealer sold them.

This is probably because the hyosung dealers were mostly scooter dealers. I had a GV250 that I set up myself from the crate, and I never had any problems except for a snapped speedo-cable because I installed it incorrectly. Other than that, it never gave me any trouble.

In my opinion and I have done a ton of research on this, The bike is pure garbage most of the time! I said it and save your bashing and comments! I really don't care to comment on this topic anymore.

If you want to know the facts, just search through my older posts! I am thouroghly convinced that they are not worth the money, there are plenty of better bikes in this price range, and contrary to popular belief... They are not made by Suzuki or any other Japanese company, nor are the parts or the engineers who designed it!

I will say that if you are in Europe, you may have a totally different experience, They have a lot more dealers and parts and knowelge of these bikes is more plentifull.
As I said, please save your negative replies as I will not bite! This person asked for an opinion and I gave mine!
Hopefully they will listen and save a lot of time and money!
Good luck and remember everyone is entitled to an opinion!

Sure you are entitled to an opinion Bored.

What you are not entitled to unless you're a mod and have a very good reason, is to tell others to shut up and not react to your statements and give THEIR opinions.

The bike is NOT pure garbage. Hyosung's got great reviews in Australia and even here in Europe which are not third world backwaters with a lack of choice in bikes!

From what I can tell, the issue in America seems lack of dealer support and/or cr@p dealers. So if anything, it's the dealers who are garbage and not the bikes. How can an identical bike get the thumbs up in 2 continents (and even some American reviews but I'm not sure on that) and be "pure garbage" in another? :ermm:

I agree xk. The reviews and comments by owners on other boards are generally very positive. The one negative I hear is dealer support. I'm lucky in that I have a dealer who has a stellar reputation and is very responsive to any issues I may have.

thanks for the responses guys,

I've read a couple of reviews and been on some forums relating to this bike and it's quite popular in Australia and europe. I know of 2 hyosung dealerships here in Calgary and have visited and talked to the salesperson in one of them. I'll still keep my options open. I still have a lot of time to decide
