took the tank off... w/pics...

i took the tank off today to see what i was workin with in reguards to rust... i flushed the tank out well and got all the rust...

i was going to clean the carb, but i can see that it is going to be more than a one day thing...

so it seems my reserve line should work now!!! :D

here is the pics of what i have done so far...

does anyone know of a product or way to keep the rust issue down in the tank?

Yes... that will stop it from rusting inside the tank.


If the rust isn't bad dump some CLR and a handfull of washers in there. Seal it up then rattle it around. Dump it out, then treat the tank with WD40. If it is bad I believe there's a product called POR5 that'll let you eat out the rust then reseal it.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
