On my way home today, the car in front of me had to slam on its brakes because some idiot pulled out of the car wash without looking. The car wash was leaking soapy water on to the street, so when the car and I had to slam on our brakes, my back wheel couldn't grip because of the soapy water. I slid for about 10 feet on my tires and luckily I stopped in time (right when I was about to stop braking and swerve around the car in front of me).
Anyways, I know that I slid on soapy water, but I'm a worry-wart (remember that term) and was wondering if stock tires (Ninja 250) are designed for this type of treatment. I checked them a few minutes ago and they seem ok...air pressure checks out and I see no visible damage. So I was just wondering how tough the tires are.
By the way, a cop saw the whole thing, but rather than pull over the guy that cut us off, he follows me in to my apartment parking lot and ridicules me for skidding. I tried to tell him that I was not tailgating or speeding, the skid was a result of the water. I tried to be respectful but he just kept talking to me like I was a child so I finally told him to either cite me, apprehend me, or let me go. I am a military police veteran so I knew he couldn't just hold me there to lecture me.
