Interchangeability of parts

Does anyone know where I can find technical specifications of parts for interchangeability purposes?

This seems to be a closely guarded secret as part no's seem to change with as little as a color change.

Reason: I have an 04 599...am thinking of getting into track days...A CBR F3 is the donor motor for the 599 (different carbs and tuning)... basic interchangeability is the wheels. Are the wheels from an F3 or F4 (track bike) the same? So I could run the track day tires on the street bike when they've had enough without having to remount them. Each bike would have it's own spacers, they don't need to be the same, just the wheels and rotors.

Or even say a 2000 f4 and a 1999 f4 parts bike?

The 599 part no for the wheels between 04 and 06 are totally different and yet I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that the only difference is the wheel color (and the price).
