Well, got some riding in today...on my bike and on soemthing a bit different.

Today was the local Harley Dealerships Demo days. I read about this event a month or so ago and have been looking forward to it since. So today I suck up to the wife severely, and we all hop in the SUV and head to The Shop (thats what its called, seriously.) and there is this big trailer parked there and a parking lot full of bikes. I go in and see that along with the Road kings, Sportsters and night rod they have a few Buels. which have no line up. (the nightster was booked til the end of the day by the time I got there) So I say to myself "Self, lets try a sport bike of sorts" I sign up to ride the Buell Lightning CityX XB9SX. Now this is a bit of a different style of bike then Ive been used to riding, and when they told me it was close to a 1000 CC engine, I was a little worried. But I enjoyed the ride. I kinda like the acceleration and power that it had, although I wasnt to keen on the riding position that it gave me. Seemed like the bike was too squished up, I couldnt lean forward towards the tank, and I couldnt straighten up enough. I doubt a Buel will be in my driveway, but I could see a Kawi 650R as the next bike..... Although my ride this evening on the vulcan was really fun....its a snappy bike too.

so, heres to a slightly sporty bike in the future.....a sport touring I believe they call it.

ooppps....

I totally ran out of gas yesterday.....and found out that my gas tank was allready on reserve......hmmm.....after some shaking and wobbling of the bike though, I found enough gas fumes to get it to the top of the hill, coast down the other side to the gas station...yay....

moral of story...running out of gas, when wearing your black leather jacket in 30C weather sucks.....

Hmm..where did the summer go....oh right...I was renovating....

anyways, I did get to do a little bit of riding last week...or the week before...I dont quite remember...I was hoping to make a trip out to Manitoulin island, apperently its quite pretty. But I didnt have enough time..perhaps this friday.

New things that have happened....

1- my little Topaz car died......but never fear, I bought a 2000 Chevy Blazer for my work/hunting/beater vehichle....Its great for towing my little trailer... but a bit rougher ride then the torrent.

2- I actually dragged a peg....was going through a cloverleaf exit, and was leaned over...and felt a scraping....pretty cool, but I fail to see why this is a mile stone...

3- New kitchen is almost in....Ill post pics....

I usually say it's a milestone because it means you are comfortable with your bike and confident in it once you've leaned enough to scrape pegs...

You actually owned a Topaz? I literally haven't seen one of those in years! Oh, and my grandpa has always owned Chevy Blazers from when I can remember, good cars!

Good job on the kitchen!!!

As long as you aint draggin the top of the triples, I'd say you're in decent shape.

well, did the winterization of the bike last night...had to put a spoace heater in the garage near the motor to get it strated...wasnt too happy about the cold I guess.... enough snow on the ground now for me not to have any dilusions of possible more rides this year. so battery is out and the fuel has been stabilized...Im gonna through the cover on her, and just wait a few months for the white stuff to go bye bye.

to any other snow bound people, heres to a happy off season, and may the spring come soon!

Roll on March, by then we should well past the freezing temps here and can start riding again.....barring any flippin' Vancouver Monsoons......by which time, I should of paid off my repair bill. Can't wait.......caging to work daily is no fun and the weekends are spent looking out the window and seeing dark clouds, endless rain shower with the occasional sunny but icy day.
Always ask why.
