My 2004 Suzuki Marauder 1600 gets about 22 miles per gallon - this seems ridiculous for a bike that weighs 650 lbs and has an engine that is smaller than a Honda Civic which gets 40 mpg.
Anyone have any ideas whether a Cobra F2000 or like equipment will help me get better miles out of my bike? Is this mileage average for a bike of this size? I am only getting around 95 miles per tank (4 gallon tank) and its driving me nuts to have to stop all the time for gas....
I know several folks that have the 1600 Marauder and it's clone, the Kaw Mean Streak 1600 (It's a Kaw bike, rebadged for Suzuki). They've been getting around 35 mpg around town and 40 mpg on the open road, with stock FI programming and stock pipes.
It sounds like something is seriously out of tune or plugged up.
Stupid question, but is your air filter dirty?
If someone tried a FI re-program that was less than optimal, that could cause it. You probably need a dealer and his equipment to find and fix something like that.
Are you sure about the carbs, Sev? I was looking at my neighbor's 2004 over the weekend and it definitely had FI. I did a google search for specs and I'm seeing FI on the 2004 Marauder/Mean Streak.
