bored with your bike?

My friends and me we were talking about this alot. Most bikes today are as larg as a small car. For me i want a bike that is small light and fairly fast but no need for a super sport. For me the right bike would be something like they used to make in the 60s and 70s. But i want something with new technolgy. Many new bikes i looked at are just huge some of then you cant even reach the ground with both feet, yea im short 5-9. The bike i have now is nice but i want something faster 305 can go only so far before it runs out of air . Yea im still having a blast riding my bike thank you very much.

I'm with Dusty jacket...Our roads are terrible. I also can't count on owning my side of the road as I lean into a curve. These drivers have little or no cornering skill, and disregard the rules of the road on most good corners. We always have to hold back to keep some emergency maneuvering in reserve. I know that's obvious, but my bike can really crank for an oldy-moldy, and I'd like to do it more often, without trying to go broke on a track day. By the time you buy real racing gear, and prep the bike, it's alot more than a couple of hundred bucks. Besides, no track days anywhere near here. Oh yeah, I said 600-1000 simply because you can at least get the staight line rush out on any highway when you go 0-60 in 3 seconds.

just to add a little bit i hung out with someone who has a big 1300 cruiser. we compared bikes a bit what i like bout mine and dont like compared to his ect. but he had to bring up 'ya but yours is only a 600 i couldnt ride that id be bored after being on my 1300 for so long'. but my 600 blows his bike away speed wise and can out performe in the turns so i dont get people like that at all. how are you bored with a more capable(speed wise) bike just because the engine size is smaller.

i think my next bike will be a 600 cruiser to keep the size of the bike down then do some work to bring more power out of the motor. i saw a guy with a 600 shadow who had nitro on it

Well I have a Vstar 650cc (registered 649cc)
And I love mine, however due to me and my wife riding (i'm 250 myself and she's probaly 180) I wouldn't mind have a Vstar11100 so the extra ccs could more easier support us.

So If I had it to do over again I'd have gotten an 1100 but I'm not "bored"
with it perse.

And even on the 650 we can get easily hold 60-75mphon flat road, and 60-70 on mtns ( I live in the appalachian mtns )

I'm never bored on my 250. I will at some point get a larger bike, but it certainly won't be due to bordom.

After 21 years and 330k miles of riding, I too am never bored on my present 500cc 40hp bikes. It's still more fun to ride a slow bike fast........

I started out like most do, bought a CB400 first bike and 6 months and 6k miles later I "needed" a CB750 to keep up. Now I ride my GS500s much faster than I ever rode that CB750 for the 80k miles I had it 20 years ago.

Now when I hear someone say " I need a bigger bike," in most cases I just smile and say to myself "you need to learn to ride the one you have first," like I needed to back then.

With gas prices over $2 a gallon and probably going much higher in the future, I really appreciate the 60 mpg I get from the GSs. Running it hard and fast can drop it to 50-55 mpg at worst. I hit reserve at about 220-240 miles allowing a full day and somestimes two between gas stops, except when traveling.

I am frequently asked why I don't get a bigger bike by those I don't know well. Most times I just kiddingly tell them "I wouldn't have anyone to ride with if I had a bigger motor."

I'd say any size. Just being on a bike is intoxicating.

That said though I have just gone from a 599 2001 ZX-6R to a 998 2004 R1 and the R1 is incredible in every way. I was sad to see my Ninja go, but the more I ride the R1 the more content I am with it as my bike.
