Hello from CMA Alaska Lady......

#1 Unread post by Bluebabe »

:imnewhere: to the group, have been "checking the site out" during my lunch hours at work and it looks to be a pretty neat one, I like the Ladies Section, way cool!

Let's see. Been riding for about 20-25 years off and on. First bike, 1985 Honda 185 with 274 original miles on it. Bought it off an old gentleman in Fox, Alaska who had kept it in his log cabin at the end of his hallway. ;) (I like that story!) Rode that until I vibrated myself to death going as fast as I could to keep up with my husband and his 850 Yamaha on my first 100 mile round trip.

Couple bikes later now own a 2006, 900 Kawasaki Vulcan Classic LT and love it! Was able to put almost 12,000 miles on it the last two summers and that is pretty good up here. Husband now has a 2004 1800 Goldwing ':goldwing:'and it has been a kick riding together. We both have CB's and so can talk all we want, or not.

Up here is Fairbanks, AK. We can ride USUALLY mid April to mid September. So, needless to say, bikes are up, snow is on the ground and we dream and talk of riding!

That's my intro.....

Thanks for the site!

(Oh, yeah. CMA stands for Christian Motorcyclists Association)

Welcome a board

 A big Texas welcome! I do not like the cold so Alaska is not for me, but man the pictures of rides I have seen up there are fantastic. If ever your husband and you get down Texas way send a note. Hope you continue to enjoy it here on this site. :motorcycle1:

Quite a difference!

Between Texas and Alaska, and yeah, I don't think we would do the heat so well, either!

Thanks for the welcome and you can bet we will if we get down that way. Hope to travel in the next few years, he will be retiring and I still have a few years to go.

See what happens, huh?

Yeah, the pictures don't really do it justice, it is awesome up here in the summer. We have a LOT of daylight then and we even have midnight rides and it is still daylight. Pretty cool...

Thanks!

Ready to ride for retirement

#4 Unread post by Patrick »

My wife is the one who has basicaly retired she is on long term disability but I too have a few more years before I retire. She (Val) does go riding with me for day trips which is great, but when we go on the long ones I will trailer the bike until we get to a cool place to ride. We hope to get to KY for the mamouth caves this spring.

Speakng of heat, yes if you come down this way plan to do it in the fall or the spring because it gets darn hot even for us.

Well talk with you later.

:welcome: Bluebabe to TMW.

Alaska is on my "to do" list along with the Yukon. Now that your riding season is over, do you haul out the dog sled?

How did you know?

#6 Unread post by Bluebabe »

As a matter of fact, we do. But only when we want to stay at the Igloo, no roads there, ya know. Need to put their studded dog booties on when we go over the ice bridge though as it could get a little scary.

If you believe that, I have some land to sell you, too........

I know, you couldn't help yourself.....

No. I happened across it one day and saved it to my computer.

I have another good one if you want it.

Sure, if you don't mind. I do newsletters for our group and am always looking for a new graphic to "sign off" with.
