G'night, Blues. Nice chattin' with ya.

Ade, yeah, the boots help though huh? Nothing wrong with that! I have floorboards on mine and the only place I could put my heels was right off the edge of the shifter on one side and then the edge of the brake on the other, and of course, could never relax, only did that to stretch, so this is much nicer.

Sounds like you at least get to ride year round which is pretty cool. We will be looking for property "outside" or what is known up here as the lower 48 states. Possibly Oregon as we both have relatives there. Do the "snowbird" thing and live there in the winter and ride and then up here for the summers, but we'll have to see......

Well good luck in your search for somewhere to live the winters out, and nite for now.

Not sure on which "Rally" you are referring to but we do have a "Houston" down by Anchorage, roughly 350 miles away on the Parks Highway.

The Dalton highway, known to the locals as the "Haul Road" from the pipeline days starts up north from us here roughly 60-70 miles or so.

We do not recommend riding a motorcycle up the Dalton, but every year, people come up to do it because they want to ride to the official Arctic Circle and say that they've done it. The one reason being the frost heaves. They will send you flying before you know what hit you. Another is the road itself. All gravel and dirt and is in your blog I read, rough at times with huge boulders where DOT goes in and "fixes" the road. There was a big story in the paper about 30 some odd bikes that went up there and how many of them came back in pieces. Course some of it was just plain no brainers when you take a full dressed Harley up there, but, some just don't listen. One lady, I think had broken her arm from falling on the huge rocks off her bike. Yep, heard many a horror story. So, just do your homework and make sure you have a bike that will handle it.

Just thought you would like to know..... ;)

Last Frontier is in July in Houston. It is put on by the Northern Riders Club from Anchorage. I've only seen it advertised in rags and the net. For some reason I thought Houston was closer to Fairbanks than Anchorage.

Houston is 302 miles from us and 55 miles from Anchorage. (I looked it up as I wasn't sure on the exact mileage.)

There is the HOG Rally that will be held in Anchorage this year along with the CMA Rally. Anchorage and Fairbanks are the two largest cities in the state and we trade off and on each year for the event locations so one of us doesn't always have to travel that distance every year.

Anchorage is larger and will have more MC groups than we do here, but, haven't heard of that one. Will have to ask around.
