Talking to a mechanic, he said if you treat that flat six well, 1,000,000+ kms is doable...JC Viper wrote:Honda Goldwings are known to have been way past the 100k mark some beyond 400k. Maybe there's something to that flat six...

I was wondering, do these bikes/cars with many miles on them still run without a hitch? Just regular maintenance and no really big problems? or do they need more tlc than usual?
I'm just asking because I've been in a few cars with high mileage, but I've never felt really safe in them. Even though they still run, the entire chassis just doesn't feel like it's holding up the same as it was a few years ago. Also, a couple of the older ones would have issues along the road.

My '89 240SX is just starting to show body rust, it does need some work, but that has only been put off due to finances. Regular repairs or replacement of: oil, brakes, filters, tires, wipers, etc. the interior could use a thorough cleaning and some new upholstery for the drivers seat, but it runs well...Dragon on Wheels wrote:I was wondering, do these bikes/cars with many miles on them still run without a hitch? I've heard a ton of stories about those little kawi 250's lasting well over 200,000 miles; My rebel had 67,000 on it and was still running strong. Seeming like a truth to me, people usually buy one then trade it in 2 years later for another and never really put the miles on it imo.

ergbotie,
I know too many individuals who purchase a new high end harley just to sell for a profit of 1,000$ or more. Thats f'ed up in my opinion(one of the guys works a dealer too)Seeming like a truth to me, people usually buy one then trade it in 2 years later for another and never really put the miles on it imo.

The discovery channel did top 10 greatest motorcycles and the Honda Cub was #1, it's bulletproof according to the guests that were featured on the show, you can abused the hell out of it and it would still run
