You're correct, most prices we pay for imported items are base on an exchange rate that is years out of date. Maximum PC a magazine from the States is $10.99 CA as opposed to $8.99 US, a novel I read just recently cost me $36.95 CA, but it's marked as only $27.95 US. Totally unjustified pricing for several years. Those differences also show up in MC parts as well, especially stuff like Tires...Wrider wrote:I dunno... Been talkin to Sev up there in Alberta, everything is still more expensive, but the dollar is about equal! lol

Was my computer hacked?
A strange thing happened this morning....I was in the middle of typing an email to a friend when suddenly the email program closed and I was looking at a blue screen with a couple of things on it.
One was my name and it said I had 2 processes or programs running...
The other side had about shutting down or logging off..
I have never seen this before.
I tried to shut it down, but then a box opened up telling me that there were 2 users on my computer and that if I shut it down I would lose any unsaved work...was I sure about shutting it down....
Well...I was somewhat alarmed by the "2 users on my computer"....so I immediately clicked to close it and then I pulled the plug on the modem.
I will be away from my computer for a few days now because I am going up the coast a bit to visit my Mom. When I come back I will change all my passwords to be on the safe side.
So-o-o-o-o-o....was my computer hacked?

Try it right now. This key combination locks the computer. It leaves you logged in and your programs running.
All you need to do to get back in is click on your user name and type in your password if you have one.
You didn't get hacked. Nothing to worry about

If you were hacked it was the sloppiest hacker ever and you have nothing to worry about because they are incompetent.blues2cruise wrote: So-o-o-o-o-o....was my computer hacked?
I believe jonnythan hit it on the nose. What version of Windows are you using? Vista? XP Home? XP Pro?

Are there any tell tale signs of being hacked? How would anyone actually know?

I have another question for any in the know. It is about printing photographs. Is there a printing program that I could install to help me with my photos?
The problem I have is this......I cannot get my prints to print with an even border all around. I am referring to an 8x10 size. I would love to be able to get a borderless print, but the message comes up that the image is bigger than the printing surface and it cuts it down....cutting off a bit of the image.
I then used the photo shop printing page with a adjustable window....you drag the edges of the image to fit the box. It printed the image, but it made it only about a 6x8 or something....with huge amounts of white space around it.
So-o-o-o, what is the solution so I can make the prints Iwant instead of what the computer wants?
Thank you.

I just printed this picture without borders, well there is an 1/16 inch of white at the top and the bottom .

I used Windows Picture and Fax Viewer and clicked on the printer. That opens a WP&FV dialog box that has a Printing Preference button (might be on the second page). That button opens a Lexmark (the printer on the computer) program that has the borderless option on it.

People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

what's the consequences of disabling every harddrive at a school network if someone was caught?
let's say someone wrote a program to max out the processor of either single, dual, or quad core processors, and then he put it in the start up folder of every computer at a school network. this would freeze a computer before it could boot then restart.

blues2cruise,
They have these animated things now called "bots" I'm not wondering if those deviant devices can be planted/sent to be used to infiltrate a person CPU? I don't have the remotest clue.
Sorry to hear about all that.
