Hello from Staffordshire ,England.

:D Hello from a cold wet English evening.I'm a 56 yr old born again biker, returning to the fold after 39 years or so of not riding any thing with an engine on two wheels. Not having passed my bike test in the 60's I have had to do the compulsory training(no problem) and the theory test and am due to take the practical test in the New Year.
I have a classic old British bike ,a 1956 Francis Barnett Cruiser 225cc which I have had for 10 years but not been able to use (no licence) and my sons persuaded me to get going and use . It had been restored to a good standard before it came my way as a favour to a friend who sadly died shortly after I bought it but it has not run since.Hopefully it will be rideable soon.
This bike has spawned an interest in something newer/bigger and I am building up to deciding between a Moto Guzzi California and a HD Sportster 1200.Sports bikes don't do it for me (at the moment!)
Any comments appreciated 8)
Make time for it !

Welcome aboard.

Know the feeling about cruisers v sports. I'm a bit younger than you at 49 but returned after 22 yrs to a 1500 vn.

Bought it from Redditch - nearer you than me.

Post a pici of the FB and let us know what you get.

The Sportster has a bigger dealer support network base, at least in USA.

The motoguzzi may be a better design (both cyclinders equally exposed to the air).

Its apples and oranges. Which appeals to you?

I recently purchased a 10 yo HD Ultra Classic w/ sidecarand I kick myself for not doing it about 10-15 years earlier! I am 51.

Go test ride what ever bikes you are considering and get a hands on feel about it. Let each dealer know what you are doing and hopefully they will compete for your $$$.

The Moto guzi california is a great looking machine! Gotta love that 5 gallon gas tank as opposed to 3+ gallon sportster tank.
