Talk me out of it.

#1 Unread post by Power »

I'll be turning eighteen in a few months and was thinking about purchasing a motorcycle. That's not in anyway a problem but, you see, the bike I'm looking at is the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

No matter what I read I keep coming back to this 1300cc monster, quite possibly the worst starter bike choice in the history of man. I'll look at Kawasaki Ninja 250's, Honda rebels and the like and for five or so minutes and think: "I need to start off small and work my way up." Then my Id kicks in and for several weeks I'll be all Busa, Busa, Busa. I've been in this morbidly humorous cycle for several weeks now and I need someone to get me off the Busa.

If I start on the Busa I know I'm going to blow my mind, wallet and pelvis on this thing. :aaarggh:

But I don't think I really care.

God help me.

Is this the all-18-buy-a-superbike-wank-fest? It is? Good.

This works for exotic ladies too. It's safer to just buy a magazine.

I was just reading it.

It's just that I can't understand what meaning, if any, is behind his (Fast Eddy's) post.

 If you don't understand Eddy's post you need to gain more life experience. Try the 500 Ninja or even a 650 Ninja fist and learn to ride.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I'm sorry if I need logical thought flow and sentence structure.

Wrap your mind around this statistic:

According to the NHTSA. In 2004, motorcycle fatalities for bikes with 501-1000cc displacement engines were more than SEVEN TIMES that for bikes with 500cc and under displacement.

1627 deaths for 501-1000cc, and 218 deaths for the 500cc and under.

A Busa is a waaaay sexy bike. But no toy for a newb. You wouldn't expect to be able to take out an f-14 for a joy ride... you don't have the training or experience. Just because you could go and buy a Busa, doesn't make it a smart choice. At least not as a first bike.

Thank you Lion Lady for your time. That puts things into perspective.

I've driven my Uncle's '99 Busa before, but not for very long. But the time I had with it simply blew my mind. That's probably the reason I keep on going back to this motorcycle, I want that power again.

(And thanks for an articulate answer)
