Whoa, I'm pretty sure I understand what you're trying to say...

First of all, radial are better for high speeds, and bias are cheaper to make. Second, make sure they're the tires FOR the Goldwing... those tires have extremely stiff sidewalls because of the weight of it. Second, chances are they are cheaper online but you'll pay a bit for them to take your wheels off and install the new tires...

i beleive the GW come with radials, check the different after market places and I think you'll find that there's quite a few radial tires, try Googling your tire size (170/70/16 tires) and see what you get, you might be surprised.

You can find tires cheaper online. But..

If you bring tires to the shop I use it's $100 a tire to change (Wheels on the bike) if I buy from him it's $50. And sometimes i get free mounting.

So if you are getting a shop to change the tires It may not be quite as much of a saving as you think. BTW When i bought tires last summer I paid $50 more at the shop than the tires were online at that time.

If you can change the tire yourself obviously you can save.I worry about balance though when contemplating changeing myself as i had balance issues on a front tire from another shop.

I have heard that tires from online may be older as well ( I don't have specific knowledge of this so take that with a grain of salt) so that's a concern as rubber does have a shelf life. I think that the bigger online stores like you mention shouldn't be a problem in that regard though.

Bottom line for me is I'd rather shop locally anyway. I want my local shop to be open when i need them. A few extra $ doesn't faze me. If it is hundreds in savings though I might change my tune.

If you order online just check the tires age when you get them, the last 4 numbers of the DOT number are the week and year of manufacture. I've ordered quite a few online and purchased many locally; compare prices including shipping, tax, and installation costs. Many places charge more to install tires you bought elsewhere.

The 1500 Wings came with bias tires and the new Dunlop Elite 3 bias tires would be hard to beat for a 1500 Wing. They advertise a radial type profile for them and altho I ride much smaller bikes I found this to be true with the new Metzeler Lasertecs compared to previous radials I'd used, they're almost as good.

The 1800 Wings come with radial tires and there is a radial Elite 3 to fit them but the rear tire is wider and the wheel also wider and they wouldn't be suitable for a 1500 Wing. Be sure to compare load ratings if you consider other tire brands, the load ratings of the Dunlops are quite high as someone else mentioned. Don't settle for less.

Michelin makes a radial for the 1500 Wings if you really want radials but I have no idea how good they are, gotta check that with some Wing guys.

I have bought online tires from AMT, Southwest, and Chaparral and got good service and prices from all of them; I usually check and compare these 3 first:
