Look around at your friends.

Imagine this lad is one of them.

Imagine tomorrow you'll be putting him into a hole in the ground and that will be that.

For the rest of your life this friend will be missing. You'll see something or do something and pick up the phone to tell them about it before you remember they won't be answering.

Eventually you end up at a state where you direct occasional comments to the sky for them.

As long as you bought it because it fits correctly and a little tightly than because of how it looks...

That's actually the reason I bought it over the HJC AC-12 Carbon I was originally looking at.

Yup, I wouldn't have linked anything more graphic than that. I thought it was noteworthy that he was helmeted, booted, and with back/arm protection.

At those speeds all protective gear allows for is your remains to be collected in one convenient package. A sort of bag if you will.

A few years ago I clocked off shift at 6am along with a bunch of other guys where I was working. One of the wagon drivers got on his bike to go home.

150 metres from our gate a woman pulled out on him, he swerved to avoid and the bike went down. He rolled awkwardly and snapped his neck. To all intents and purposes he was dead on contact.

He was travelling less than 30mph.

Gear is great gear is good but when it comes down to it its all about how lucky you are in the crash. Quality gear just means you have to be a lot less lucky.
