First time out since the wreck.

Well, I got the

500-R out yesterday. Leg is finally flexible enough to get over the bike and strong enough to support it. Just went around the neighborhood. It's lucky I don't remember the accident, I guess, as I had no fear riding. Same can't be said for the wife

It made her a bit nervous.

Gotta get a new helmet now. I felt kinda stupid on the ninja with the half-helmet and goggles

Well done on getting back out there, i would love to hear about the wreck and the injuries you sustained too, not for amusment of course but so i can congratulate you on surviving!

i bet your lady was nervous as!

I thought I had been mentioning it too much

Short version...

Busy road, about 45mph. I'm in left lane. SUV in right. Commercial driver goes right on red into traffic. SUV swerves to miss him. Hits me.

Low-sided. Concussion. Fecked up hip and knee. Contussions (sp?) on hip and both big toes. Sprain (perhaps) to right wrist. Still walking with a cane from time to time after six or-so weeks.

Vulcan totaled. Cars suck.

So, be careful out there, and if you commute, wear a full face helmet

Thanks for that s/b. I guessed that you would have filled the forum in on your unfortunate accident but i am still finding my way around.

Well done on living to tell the story.

You don't go poking people with your cane do you? lol when my husband had one he was a right pain in the A with it

Thanks. I was either lucky or good. I keep hearing about accidents at lower speeds causing more rider harm than I had. I lost a couple hours from the concussion. Didn't even know where the accident happened. When I did find out, I saw how close I was to a crash barricade when it happened. Had I high-sided, we might have had another story on our hands.

If you have a cane you have a undeniable RIGHT to poke people. Otherwise what's the fun in having one? Hell I think it's un-american if you don't trip at least one person and then make them feel BAD for throwing YOU off balance.

It would be fun to have an Evel Kneivel/Dr. House cane rig on the Ninja, but I'll settle for not needing it much longer
